Mustang 2026 Tri-County Champions!
Elwood Baseball & Softball is proud to announce that our Mustang team has been crowned the 2026 Tri-County Champions. This is a tremendous accomplishment for our young athletes, coaches, and families, and a milestone moment for our club and the Elwood, Illinois community.
Season Overview
From the first practice of the season, our Mustang players committed themselves to hard work, improvement, and playing the game the right way. Throughout the regular season and into the Tri-County tournament, the team displayed:
- Strong fundamentals in hitting, fielding, and pitching
- Disciplined, heads-up base running
- Consistent effort during practices and games
- Respect for teammates, coaches, opponents, and umpires
Their dedication paid off as the team battled through tough competition and steadily improved each week, positioning themselves for a championship run.
The Championship Run
The Tri-County tournament brought together some of the strongest youth teams in the area. Our Mustang squad rose to the challenge, combining solid defense, timely hitting, and clutch pitching performances.
Game after game, the team showed resilience and composure, responding to pressure situations with confidence. Whether it was coming from behind late in a game or making a key defensive play to protect a lead, these young athletes demonstrated what it means to compete as a team.
In the championship game, Elwood’s Mustangs played with focus and heart, executing their game plan and supporting one another on every pitch. Their hard work and teamwork resulted in a well-earned Tri-County title.
Teamwork, Growth, and Sportsmanship
While the championship trophy is a special reward, the greatest success of the season was the growth of each player on and off the field. Throughout the year, our Mustang athletes:
- Developed stronger baseball skills
- Learned the value of teamwork and communication
- Showed good sportsmanship in victory and in adversity
- Built lasting friendships and pride in their community
These lessons will stay with them far beyond this season and will serve as a foundation for future success at higher levels of play.
