WHO WE ARE
Scott County Youth Football League is a group of parents who are committed to seeing kids excel through athletics. These parents have displayed a commitment to working with kids in multiple areas, including tackle football, basketball, baseball, soccer, and performance training. We are committed and dedicated to providing each child the best experience they can possibly have in a safe and supervised environment. We believe football builds character, a sense of teamwork, and community pride and spirit. The intent for SCYF League is to provide a safe and fun environment for the young players to learn self-discipline, responsibility, self-esteem and respect for others.
How do we accomplish our mission? SCYFootball is a non-profit organization made up of two entities – SCYFootball League and SCYFootball Boosters. SCYFootball League manages all aspects of football including coaches' training, officials, equipment issue and maintenance, and the day to day management of the league. SCYFootball Boosters' charter is to manage concessions, sponsorships and generate funds for the League. All funds generated by the Boosters purchases equipment reducing registration costs for the League.
We are committed to providing the best equipment and coaching for players in the League. Equipment is inspected by factory representatives before the season. Helmets and other equipment are either refurbished or new helmets and equipment are purchased prior to equipment issue.
Coaches are trained and certified by USA Football and their Heads Up Program. Along with proper equipment, this program is designed to teach players the correct techniques for tackling to greatly reduce the risk of concussions and injuries. Flag football coaches are certified by USA Football's NFL Flag Football program.
This is our third season of offering Spring NFL Flag Football for ages 4 - 16, age determined as of June 1, 2018, divided into six age appropriate divisions based on total number on registrants. Registration begins on Feb 14, 2018 and will continue through Mar 25, 2018. Games are played Sunday afternoons between 1:30 PM and 7 PM. Games start on Apr 15, 2018 and continue through Sunday Jun 3, 2018. Games will not be played on Mothers' Day or Memorial Day.
Our Fall Football Season includes four divisions ages 4-12, age is determined as of June 1, 2018. Those four divisions are: Junior Flag Football, ages 4 & 5 year olds; Freshman Tackle Football, ages 6 & 7, Junior Tackle Football, ages 8 & 9, Senior Tackle Football, ages 10, 11 & 12.
The Fall Football Season begins July 17, 2018 with Tackle Football 3 Day Fundamentals Camp and ends with Championship games on October 29, 2018. Games are played on Sunday afternoons from 1 PM to 6PM, starting August 12, 2018. Games will not be played on Labor Day Weekend or the Sundays at the beginning and end of Fall Break in October 2018. Normally, registration begins May 1st and ends the Sunday prior to the Fundamentals Camp. See League Calendar for specifics.
