Competition scenarios related to Corona

Just like last year, the KNCB has a number of scenarios ready for when the competitions can start.
The central starting point in all scenarios is: to offer as many cricket matches as possible to all cricketers in the Netherlands.

The scenarios that will be used are:

  1. A normal competition: in this scenario, the competitions start on the weekend of 1 and 2 May or the weekend of 8 and 9 May;
  2. Start of competition as soon as this is allowed by the government after the weekend of 1 and 2 May: in this scenario, it starts as soon as possible (taking into account any preparation period). In this scenario, not every opponent is played twice.
  3. Half a competition: in this scenario, each class plays half a league.
  4. There is no half competition possible: in this scenario, alternative league formats (e.g. T20) will be looked at to offer as much cricket as possible in each class.

In addition, the KNCB is in consultation with the associations looking at whether the possibility of starting the Top Leagues in both the men's (Top class) and the women's (Big League) will be used. Two meetings (online) have now been held about this and the associations have been informed about protocols, etc.
