A. Right Field Side:

1) An imaginary line goes directly from the end of the first baseline fence (i.e., the closest fence parallel to the first baseline) diagonally to the nearest point of the paved path that runs parallel with the rightfield line.  Anything beyond the imaginary line is out of play.  If a ball is caught before a fielder makes a step on the ground out of play, the batter is "out".

2) The path down the right field line and anything to the "tree side" of the path is out of play.  If a ball is caught before a fielder makes a step on the path or on the ground on the tree side of the path, the batter is "out".

B. Left Field Side

1) An imaginary line goes directly from the end of the third baseline fence (i.e., the closest fence parallel with the third baseline) diagonally to the 3rd vertical pole of the park perimeter fence beyond the end of the third baseline fence.  Anything to the bench side of the imaginary line is out of play.  If a ball is caught before a fielder makes a step on the ground out of play, the batter is "out".

C. Trees and the Outfield

1) If a ball hits a tree in foul territory it is a "dead ball".

2) If a ball hits a tree in fair territory it is a "live ball" as if it had hit the ground.  No catch may be made on a ball that hits a tree in fair territory.

3) Balls going beyond the outfielders up the hill or over the hill in rightfield are "in play".

4) A fair ball hit over the fence that extends from the leftfield corner to the centerfield corner (beyond the opposite field's backstop) is "automatically" a home run.
