Welcome To The New WHSL.org!

A single-division schedule, new playoff structure and this very website all make their WHSL debut in 2008.
The phrase "any given Sunday" was coined for the NFL, but just like pro football, there's never been more parity in the Westchester Hebrew Softball League. With C- and B-division teams giving A-division teams a run for their money every week - including a C-division team winning the league championship in 2006 - the team managers have voted to eliminate the unnecessary three-division structure.
Starting in 2008, the regular season is extended from 14 to 17 games in order to allow every team to play once against every other team. To make the longer regular season even more meaningful, the playoffs are now set up like a bracket from the NCAA basketball tournament: a single elimination sweet sixteen. Teams will be seeded #1 through #16 based on regular season record (the bottom two teams won't make the playoffs), with the top-finishing regular season team having the "easiest" road to the championship game.
The new regular season and playoff formats required a major overhaul to the league website, so that's what I've tried to do here. Managers will still report scores here on the site. The rules (including new bat rules and a new mercy rule), field directions, and schedule are available too. New features include the ability to email your team (or another team, or the league board) directly from the website. Please have a look around and let me know what you think, or if you find any bugs.
Here's to a great 2008 softball season. See you on the field!
