Thanks to impeccable defense and a batting order with no weak spots, Larchmont picked up its third WHSL title in the last five years, beating Greenburgh by the score of 7 to 1.
Greenburgh kept the game close through the first few innings, stranding multiple Larchmont runners on the bases. But Larchmont broke it open in the fourth inning on a 2-RBI double by Andy Lachow and a run-scoring single by Eddie Kaplan.
Kaplan also went the distance on the mound for Larchmont, where he was helped by outstanding infield play by Rob Gaynor at third, Mick Glauber at shortstop and Brian Levine at second.
Because of Jewish holidays and inclement weather, Larchmont sat for almost two months between its semifinal and the championship game. But ask the Larchmont players now and they'll tell you it was worth the wait.
It was a great 2009 WHSL season - hope you are already looking forward to 2010.
