SEASON RECAP

Hello,

I'd like to share my thoughts about the last sessions' players development.

Most of the players started the season struggling to adjust to the speed of the ball, tight spaces and not much time to make decisions with pressure.

By the end of the season, almost every single player improved on their skills and understanding of the game.
I am very satisfied with the level of improvement on just 8 weeks of training and games.

This is thanks to everyone that is part of LFL like, the players for their hard work to get better and willingness to learn, parents/family members for their effort to bring the players to practices and games, to the volunteers' coaches for their time and passion to help children, to the staff coaches for their knowledge and dedication to help players to improve.

Here is more information for each of the programs.

U6 Tots- players are having fun playing the game, they are understanding some rules of the game and learning how to kick and control the ball.

Our goal for the next season is to help them to improve their balance, coordination, dribble the ball close to their feet and continue to enjoy playing.

U8 Pre Academy- players have gotten better at dribbling with the ball close to their feet, learning how to stop and change direction, some started to use moves and most of them are starting to get competitive.

My goal for the upcoming season for them is the understanding of the space on the field, how to take advantage by spreading out and work on passing principles.

U10 Academy- some players started to get comfortable at dribbling with changes of direction, looking open space, using both feet and some passing.

My goal for the upcoming season is to work with them to learn how to shield and protect the ball, control and passing (static and on movement), and understanding the roles of the positions on the field.

U12 Development- for this age group I can say that we worked with two different levels. All have gotten better but some improved their basic skills like ball control, and another bigger group improved a lot on the passing combination, dribbling at speed, shooting with power and some movement on the field.

My goal for the next season is to continue improving on the passing combinations, teach them the benefits of finding space by moving the ball around and learn how and when to make runs.

U14 and High School Juniors- towards the end is when I started noticing improvement on better footskills and understanding of the game.

My goal is to teach them to get comfortable with the ball at their feet, learn movements and defensive principles.

U14 and High School Elite- These groups had the most noticeable improvement. From learning passing patterns, movements on the field, taking advantage of the goalkeeper as another field player and play with intensity.

My goal for the upcoming season with these groups is to push them to get better, teach them more passing patterns, possession of the ball to create space, speed of play and learn how to read cues on the game.

Goalkeepers- Great improvement on quick reaction, cutting angles and footwork to be on set shooting position.

Our goal is to get them to organize their team better and continuing with GK principles.

Speed and Agility- Coach Marcela worked with U10s and U12s, we saw improvement in their coordination, quicker reaction to change direction, acceleration and balance.

She will continue to work with them to help them to get faster and agile.

Strength and Conditioning- Players are much stronger on the field and faster to react.

Our goal is that players continue to get better, stronger center of gravity, stronger shoots and able to do runs with intensity and quick recovery.

Overall- My goal is to have the players ready by the end of the next session around March when they go to play outdoors with their teams. Players should be at a much higher level than when they started back in November. Please make sure they attend the practices and games as much as possible.

Friendly games- I am working on organizing some friendly games with some clubs from out of town to play on Saturday January 6th and Sunday January 7th at the Northend. Waiting on the club's confirmation so I can share more details. Hopefully they confirm by this weekend.

Some players will get a message to represent LFL at these friendly games. The message will have details about this event. This is just for LFL players that participated in the last session, are registered to return on the next session and I also may consider some of the new players registered for the next session depending on each age group circumstances and availability.

New players- We are getting a good turnout of new players for the next session, close to 30 players have registered to take lessons from us on top of all the returning players from last session that already registered.

Medals- Ask us for your kid's medal if they were supposed to get one but did not get it at the last game. We will have it at the practices when we start the season.

I am looking forward to continuing working with you and your children.
It was a great season and I believe that it will get better on the upcoming season.

Blessings,
