GGSL Spring 2027 - 12U Softball

Welcome to the GGSL Spring 2027 - 12U program, proudly offered by the Greentown Girls Softball League in Greentown, Indiana. This spring recreational league is designed for players who are continuing to develop their skills and softball knowledge in a fun, positive, and supportive environment.

Program Overview

The 12U Spring Recreational League builds on foundational softball skills while introducing more advanced game play, rules, and strategies. Players will further transition toward traditional fastpitch softball, with an emphasis on skill development, confidence, and love for the game. Prior playing experience is helpful but not required.

Who Can Play

This league is open to girls who meet the age and birthdate requirements below.

• Gender Eligibility: Female
• Age Basis: Eligibility is based on age as of September 1, 2026
• Birthdate Range:
  • Eligible if born on or after September 2, 2013
• Additional Eligibility Info: All eligibility is determined using the player’s age as of September 1, 2026.

What Players Will Learn

Our coaches provide age-appropriate instruction and focus on creating a positive team experience. Players will continue to build core skills and learn:

• Proper throwing and catching mechanics
• Hitting skills, including improved timing, contact, and plate approach with player pitch
• Infield and outfield positioning, responsibilities, and basic defensive strategy
• Base running, including force plays, tagging up, sliding fundamentals, and situational awareness
• Rules of the game appropriate for the 12U level, including more advanced game situations
• Communication, teamwork, sportsmanship, and respect for coaches, teammates, opponents, and umpires

Program Format

The GGSL Spring 2027 - 12U program is structured to balance skill development, practices, and games. Sessions are designed to keep players active and engaged, with an emphasis on learning, effort, and having fun. Specific practice schedules, game schedules, and field locations will be provided after registration is complete and teams are formed.
