In the Duluth Recreational Soccer League (DRSL), fun and safety trump competitiveness. We strive to maintain a welcoming and safe community for folks of all backgrounds and skill levels to be able to play, make friends, and stay healthy. We expect all players to uphold earnest sportsmanship.
Our culture also recognizes and values diversity and inclusion as the path to meaningful community and organizational excellence. We seek to sustain an inclusive culture that fosters equitable participation for athletes and administrators from diverse backgrounds.
The Winter 2026 season is going to be less formal than our outdoor seasons. Due to space and time limitations we will not have referees and will be playing futsal-style. We are thinking of this season as "organized pick-up". Futsal is a form of indoor soccer on a smaller field with a smaller, less bouncy ball. It encourages faster play in the smaller spaces we will have available. Teams will also be smaller. We think it will a different kind of fun!
We ask players, captains, board members and referees who may have, or witness, an experience contrary to this culture to report concerns to league leadership in whatever way they are most comfortable doing so. Anonymity will be respected, and we will address all offenses to the best of our ability, but willingness to provide contact information will allow transparent conversations to help us ensure the most appropriate action is taken.
