We are St. Joseph’s-Hewlett CYO Basketball, a competitive youth basketball program in Valley Stream, New York, open to boys and girls from 3rd through 8th grade. Please visit our registration page for 2026–27 registration dates and details for both boys and girls. Player registrations must include an accurate date of birth and the player’s grade as of September 1, 2026.
Once registration is complete, parents will be contacted by their child’s coach with practice times and the full 2026–2027 game schedule. Generally, the girls’ program begins earlier, with practices starting in early September and a 12-game regular season that runs through December and may extend into the first week of January.
Boys generally begin practices in October and November. Games typically start in mid-November, with the majority of their 12-game schedule played in January and February. As with the girls’ program, your child’s coach will share specific practice times and the game schedule once registration is complete and league schedules are finalized.
3rd and 4th grade teams play a 12-game schedule with no playoffs. Teams from 5th through 8th grade play a 12-game regular season plus playoffs. Typically, each team’s schedule includes 6 home games at St. Joseph’s Gym and 6 away games at competing CYO parishes.
For all playoff-eligible teams, we make every effort to place your child in a division that best matches his or her skill level to ensure the most positive learning experience and enjoyment. Being significantly overmatched or undermatched is not beneficial for player development or confidence. Please do not register your child if they cannot commit to the scheduled practices and games. We want to avoid forfeits due to a lack of players, as this is unfair to teammates who are committed and eager to compete. To support quality instruction and playing time, most rosters are capped at approximately 10 players.
