Inner City Tigers Basketball Club – Terms and Conditions (T&C) of Participation

The Inner City Tigers (ICT) is a not-for-profit organisation whose purpose is to provide opportunities for its members to participate in basketball activities.

The club‘s focus is to develop players’ basketball skills through training and game participation.

These T&C apply to all members of ICT.  For the purpose of these T&C, a “Member” shall be defined as:

  • A player
  • The parent/s or legal guardian/s of a player
  • Any team official (coach or team manager) who is not otherwise a parent

Community Sport

ICT is a community sports club.  By registering with ICT, members understand that:

  • The club is run entirely by volunteers
  • The club relies on members to volunteer as coaches, managers, and for other roles which are needed for the club to function
  • The club will engage paid resources to assist where required for coaching activities
  • The club may engage in fundraising events to support our continued operations
  • The priority of the club is for players to participate and enjoy basketball

Obligations of ICT

When you register as a participant in our skills training ICT will undertake to:

  • Provide a timeslot for players of similar age groups to train at Campsie Public School (either outdoor, or under the roof area in the event of bad weather).
  • Group the participants in smaller groups for tailored activities based on the age group and skill level.
  • Monitor the participants performance and continually tailor the training sessions to improve skills based on the participants current skill level.
  • Provide feedback to parents on progress and their readiness to participant in competitions.

When you register as a player in competitions ICT will undertake to:

  • Place you in a team with players of a similar age and skill level.
  • Enter your team in a competition run Easts Basketball League, or similar competition.
  • Provide a timeslot for players of similar age groups to train at Campsie Public School (either outdoor, or under the roof area in the event of bad weather).

While ICT will make every endeavour to meet its obligations above this is not always within the club’s power.

When ICT is unable to meet its obligations in these areas the club accepts no liability but will work with members to find a suitable outcome.  Alternative arrangements are at the sole discretion of ICT.

 Obligations of Member

When you register as a member you agree to:

  • Pay your fees by the due date or agree a payment plan with ICT
  • Abide by all ICT’s policies, rules, and guidelines. Show commitment to your team.  Once accepting a place on a ICT team playing members will attend all games and trainings when possible.  Absence should be notified to your coach or manager.
  • Wear ICT playing uniform when participating in games. ICT uniform includes club singlet and shorts
  • Show respect at all times to team mates, Club officials, opposition teams and officials, referees and all other personnel encountered while participating in ICT basketball activities.

Registration and Fees

All players and volunteers are required to complete the Club’s registration process prior to the commencement of each season or on requesting to join the club if later.

The club will not place a member in a team until the player has registered on the ICT website.

By registering with ICT members confirm that the information that they have provided on their registration is accurate and complete.  For members under the age of 18 the primary contact information must be a parent or guardian.

On registration or on placement in a team an invoice will be raised for full season fees.

Full fees are payable on registration or on receipt of an invoice.

The fees charged by ICT will cover:

  • The cost of registering your team with the competition
  • The game fees for the entire competition.
  • Court and coaching costs for training.

If the club incurs additional fees as the direct result of the actions of members these additional fees will be charged to the member.

ICT uses a mixed model for coaching. Some of the coaches are parent volunteers while paid coaches are used to fill coverage gaps as required.

As the club’s purpose is player development ICT do not offer a ‘game only’ membership option.

The club does offer a ‘training only’ membership.

Competitions and training facilities are not run by ICT.  ICT accepts no liability or responsibility for actions or lack thereof by organisations other than ICT.

Players will not be permitted to join a team for games or training unless full fees have been paid.

By registering with ICT a player is committing to paying the full fees invoiced.

Players are liable for full fees even if they do not attend all games or trainings.

A reduced fee may be offered if a new player joins a team part way through the competition.  The decision to allow reduced fees and the amount of the reduction will be at the discretion of ICT.

If a player has to leave a team part way through a season for any reason they will remain liable for the full fees.

If a player is injured to the extent that they will miss 4 or more consecutive weeks of games and trainings the club may refund fees for the period of injury.  The club may require a medical certificate. Each case will be considered on merit.

To be eligible for a refund the member must inform ICT that they have sustained a potential long-term injury and the expected length of absence within 14 days of first missing a game or training due to this injury.  If notice is not received within this timeframe, the injury period will be deemed to have begun 14 days prior to when notice is received.  If a refund is given this will be calculated and processed when the player returns to games and trainings or when the player is asked to leave the team.

If the player is injured or ill for a prolonged period the club reserves the right to ask the player to give up their place on the team to allow a waitlisted player to participate.  In these circumstances a refund for fees from when the injured player is asked to leave the team will be paid.

If the player voluntarily gives up their place on the team and an alternative player can be found to take their place the club may offer a refund which will be limited to the amount charged to the replacement player.

The decision to offer a refund in any circumstances remains at the discretion of ICT and is not guaranteed.

ICT understands that it is not always possible to pay full fees at the start of the season.  The club is willing to discuss payment plans with members and players will be permitted to participate in games and training prior to full fees being paid provided that:

  • The member (or parent/guardian) has agreed a payment plan with ICT
  • The payment plan is being adhered to.

Payment plans will be offered at the sole discretion of ICT.  If payment dates for the agreed plan are not adhered to the plan will be void and any outstanding fees will become due immediately and must be paid before a member participates in further games or trainings.

ICT reserves the right to suspend a player until full fees are paid.

If fees remain unpaid even after the player has been suspended ICT reserves the right to remove the player from the team permanently and offer their place to a waitlisted player.  In these circumstances full season fees will still be payable.

Registration with ICT is a commitment to play.  This means that, once registered and placed in a team, members are liable for their fees for the entire season even if they wish to leave the club part way through the competition.

Risks

Basketball is a contact sport and participation in games and training comes with risk of injury.  Participation is at the members’ risk and ICT do not accept any liability for injury.

Code of Conduct

All members of ICT must abide by the club’s code of conduct. All members will act with integrity and will not behave in any way that will bring the club into disrepute.

ICT seeks to provide a safe, fair and inclusive environment for all members. To achieve this, we require certain standards of behaviour of players, coaches, officials, administrators, parents/guardians (of child participants) and spectators. Our codes of behaviour are underpinned by the following core values:

  • To act within the rules and spirit of our sport
  • To display respect and courtesy towards everyone involved in our sport and prevent discrimination and harassment.
  • To prioritise the safety and well-being of children and young people involved in our sport.
  • To encourage and support opportunities for participation in all aspects of our sport.

ICT fully support all Basketball NSW’s guidelines, policies, procedures, as found on the Basketball NSW website.

ICT is run entirely by volunteers.  Without their efforts our club would not exist.  We expect all members of ICT to value and respect our coaches, managers, and administrators at all times.  ICT has a zero tolerance approach to abuse of our coaches, and volunteers.  If members behave inappropriately towards our volunteers their membership will be revoked and they will not be allowed to join the club again.  Where appropriate this exclusion may extend to family members if this is felt necessary to protect the wellbeing of our volunteers.  Any fees paid will be forfeited.

Any member found to be in breach of the club’s code of conduct may be excluded from the club.  In such circumstances the member will forfeit all fees paid and will be excluded from joining the club in the future

 Complaints

Concerns or complaints regarding team or player issues should, if possible, first be addressed to the coach and/or team manager.

Training

ICT is committed to the development of players.  Membership includes games and training.  The club does not offer a ‘games only’ membership.

If a player does not attend training for any reason there will be no refund or discounting of fees.

Each age group has a 1 hour booking each week for training.

Occasionally our training venues are unavailable for reasons beyond our control.  On these occasions the club will do it’s best to find an alternative venue if requested

Communication

From time to time the Club will communicate with members via email and other
electronic means. Members must provide the Club with a valid email address for
communication and notify any change of email address within 7 days.

All communication between the Club and its members, between team representatives and members, and member-to- member, in whatever form, must be Club-related, appropriate and not offend, intimidate, humiliate or bully another person, or bring the Club into disrepute.

I agree with the conditions of participation
