Brad Fowler Memorial Scholarship

The San Diego Sports Association has opened the application window for the Brad Fowler Memorial Scholarship, a unique scholarship opportunity for students who have used athletics to help overcome challenges brought on by substance abuse (either personal use or within their family unit). I encourage you to share this letter with coaches, teachers and counselors who can open a door for students by encouraging them to apply. This is open to any student throughout San Diego County.

(It is not necessary for the applicant to have participated in sports all four years of high school. Sports can include baseball, track, football, soccer, basketball, etc., but also horseback riding, dance, cheer and the like.)

The Brad Fowler Memorial Scholarship offers a $7,500 scholarship to at least five high school seniors in San Diego County. A second scholarship of $7,500 can also be earned, provided the recipient remains in good academic standing following the first year of college, for a total possible scholarship award of $15,000. Additionally, scholarship recipients will receive a laptop computer from Computers 2 Kids San Diego.

  1. Nomination Criteria:
    • High school senior who will enroll in either a two- or four-year college
    • Has overcome personal obstacles and troubles in life associated with drugs or alcohol
