The VFA Summer Games is a citywide youth sports experience bringing together thousands of athletes to celebrate competition, community, and athlete safety. Swimming is one of the first sports to kick off the Games and helps set the tone for the entire week. If you’re a swim fan, coach, former athlete, or love the energy of meet day, you’re in the right place. Our volunteers are essential to making this event run smoothly, and we take care of our people with clear roles, on-site support, and a great team atmosphere.

Setup Day happens before the Opening Ceremony and is one of the most important parts of the VFA Summer Games. This is when venues come to life and everything is prepared for athletes and families to arrive. Volunteers help set up key areas, organize spaces, and make sure the Games are ready to kick off. We rely heavily on this team and take care of our volunteers with clear roles, on-site support, and a positive, high-energy environment.

The VFA Summer Games Opening Ceremony is the official kickoff to an unforgettable week of youth sports, community, and celebration. Athletes take part in a high-energy parade, followed by the ceremonial torch lighting that marks the start of the Games. Behind the scenes, volunteers play a vital role in bringing the day to life by supporting athlete flow, guiding families, and keeping the celebration running smoothly. The day wraps with a live concert and crowd celebration, creating a fun, electric atmosphere that sets the tone for the entire week.
