FIRST TEAM || Andrew Maio signs for the Saints ahead of the 2023 season

Eastern United FC is delighted to announce the signing of former Para Hills Knights player Andrew Maio ahead of the 2023 season.

Andrew Maio, 24, was born in 1998 in Adelaide, Australia.
Maio is set to join the Saints ahead of the 2023 season after 3 season with Para Hills Knights in the NPL SA and State League 1. 
He started playing club football at the age of 5 for Campbelltown City SC, he spent all his junior years at the club, the passion for football was transferred to him by his father who is a football fan and was involved in different roles in the football community in South Australia.

In 2018, at the age of 18 he made his First Team debut during the NPL match between Adelaide City vs Campbelltown City.
In the same year the Red Devils dominated locally by winning winning the league and the finals, as well as winning the NPL finals (national finals).

In 2019, he moved to Croydon to seek more game time and stayed for the full season and missing finals football for just a point.

In 2020, Maio joined Para Hills, on his time at the club he collected over 50 appearances for the First Team.
Maio has over 70 appearances in First Team football and is looking forward to increase this number in the upcoming year with the Saints.

Andrew Maio, had this to say:
"In the last two, three years have not been the best for me as a footballer but here at the Saints I am confident I can return to play at my full potential as the philosophy of playing with the ball it suits my characteristics. " 

He then added:
"The ambition of the club, it reflects my ambitions I want to be successful and play finals football this season. It's a progressive club and I want be part of it and I can't wait to get started."

Manager Gabriel Markaj had this to say about our new signing:
"Has been a few season that his name came into my attention but I never really perused him to come to the club but then last season when I saw him at training, I really liked the fact that he uses his body very well and he his a clever player, you can see that he has something that can strengthen our team and this year we want to add some extra qualities in his game and if we can do that, I think he will be a massive player for us this season."
