Eastern United FC is delighted to announce that Benkert Abdija will join the First Team Coaching Staff for the reminder of the 2023 season.
Benkert Abdija, a name less familiar in the soccer circles here in South Australia, has quietly built a pleasing career in the world of football. Starting at a young age, Abdija's journey took him through prestigious youth clubs in Italy, where he honed his skills and prepared for the challenges that lay ahead. From playing for renowned teams like Grosseto Calcio and Siena Calcio in his junior years to showcasing his talents in regional leagues, Abdija's path highlights his dedication and determination to succeed.
After his time at Grosseto, Abdija's potential caught the attention of Siena Calcio, a club competing in Serie A at the time. Siena Calcio offered a higher level of competition and a platform for Abdija to showcase his abilities against some of Italy's best young players. This opportunity allowed him to further elevate his game, as he trained and played alongside talented peers, under the guidance of top-level coaches.
Following his junior years at Siena and Grosseto, Abdija made the transition to first-team football. He embarked on a new chapter, joining teams competing in Serie D and Eccellenza, which are considered the pinnacle of regional football in Italy. In 2009, Benkert Abdija proudly donned the Albanian National jersey as he represented his country at the under 17's level in the UEFA European U17 Championship qualifiers.
