Prince Willian Crew (PWC) hosts Summer Junior rowing programs for 7th through 12th grade students as well as U23 classification per USRowing definition.

Registration for 2022 Summer Programs Open.

U23 INTERMEDIATE SUMMER PROGRAM

The PWC U23/Intermediate Summer Program will be open to all rowers between the ages of 19 and 23. Members of this team will train in small boats (both sweep and sculling) to stay in shape, develop better boat feel, and increase boat moving ability while waiting to depart, or home from College for the summer.

Race Opportunities/Events:

Boat selection will be based on 2K score, power to weight ratio, 10 stroke & 1 minute watt test, overall fitness, technical aptitude, and boat moving ability. While registration is not limited, only the most competitive athletes will be selected to travel and compete.

The Coaching Staff is sensitive to the fact that most U-23 / Intermediate rowers will be working this summer so we offer a variety of training session times to individually tailor a schedule for each athlete. In the past we have had rowers train in the early morning session (beginning at 6am) before work, in the evening session (beginning at 6pm) after work, and in some occasions both or later morning / afternoon time slots. It is also possible for rowers to take out club boats independently during off training times if desired.

The cost for training will be $950.00 beginning,  June 6th through July 30st.  In addition to these base fees, there will be uniform, travel, and regatta fees for those athletes competing at one or more regattas. These fees will be comparable to any other rowing club in the area and will only  cover the expenses associated with attending. Please note at least one season of high school or collegiate rowing (and racing) experience is required to participate in this program. However racing at one or more regattas is definitely encouraged but not required to train with RRC.

U17/U19 DEVELOPMENTAL SUMMER PROGRAMS

  • Developmental Sculling and Sweep:  For experienced high school rowers.  For ages 14 through 18 who have completed one of the following: at least one scholastic season, at least one fall season, or a 2020 summer novice/Learn to Row program and have an endorsement from their coach.   The focus is on rowing skills in either a sculling or sweep boat.  The coach to rower ratio is one coach to eight rowers.  Instruction will be developmental with the goal of improving technical skills.
  •  A Swim Test Certificate on file either with the school team or PWC and a current (within the past 12 months) sports physical are required.

LEARN TO ROW/NOVICE SUMMER PROGRAMS

  • Learn to Row Sculling or Sweep:   For ages 12 (raising 7th grade) to 18.   No rowing experience is required.  The ratio is one coach to four rowers.  Instruction will be basic sculling or sweep rowing skills.
  • A Swim Test Certificate on file either with the school team or PWC and a current (within the past 12 months) sports physical are required.

SUMMER ONLY

  •  Parent/Child or Family/Same Household:   For novice or experienced rowers.  Family members may be two adults or two juniors from the same household.  Junior rowers must have completed at least a 2020 Intro to rowing, or been a participant in a Scholastic program, PWC Fall program, or a summer camps program in 2019.  The ratio is one coach to no more than two doubles.  Instruction will be basic sculling rowing skills.  Junior rowers must have a Swim Test Certificate on file either with the school team or PWC and a current (within the past 12 months) sport physical are required.
  • Private Lesson:  A personalized private lesson is a great way to develop your skill.  Our certified rowing instructors will give you one-on-one lessons tailored to your individual goals and needs, whether you are a beginner or looking to refine your skill.  Private instruction is for you if you are looking to:
    1. Learn to row but cannot make a class or would rather an individual setting.
    2. Gain confidence in a single scull
    3. Receive individualized coaching
    4. Switch up your usual rowing routing
    5. Improve your technique, fitness and results
  • Semi-Private
Do you like the benefits of group rowing, but want the individualized attention of private instruction.  Semi-private and group lessons give you the best of both worlds.  By rowing together in a double (semi-private) or a quad (group), your coach will be able to focus on the dynamics of your boat as you work to not only improve your own technique but combine as a team to create an effective, dynamic stroke and boat speed.
  • Private Lessons Scheduling:  Each lesson is scheduled at your convenience, availability of the coach, and equipment on a not to interfere basis with calendar programming.   A Swim Test Certificate and a current (within the past 12 months) physical are required.
