DIVING GROUP REQUIREMENTS and STANDARDS 2024-2025

The following program descriptions and requirements are meticulously designed and programmed to provide each diver with a development path alongside others of similar skill levels. This individualized approach aims to most effectively assist them in reaching their desired competition/development goals.

Group placement will be evaluated upon request every three months, ensuring a fair and transparent process.  A diver may move up groups if approved/invited. However, if an athlete selects to move to a development group after participating in the Competitive group, they must stay in the development group through the completion of the competition year.

Introductory Programs - Beginning October 1st

Learn to Dive (Grades 3-6)

2x per week, 1hr class; Tuesday/Thursday; 4:00p-5:00p

**Minimum Enrollment Requirement - 3 participants

Description: This introductory class is focused on introducing the core fundamentals of diving, terminology, safety, and working towards completing dives in the tuck position in every diving direction/category from the 1-meter springboard.  These categories are front dive, back dive, inward dive, and twisting skill.  The diver will also learn a full forward approach, back jump, front fall in (falling dive), and back fall in (standing back dive) from the 3-meter.

CORE NORCO (LTD Teen) (Grades 7-9)

2 x per week, 1hr class; Monday/Wednesday; 4:30-5:30p

**Minimum Enrollment Requirement - 3 participants

Description: The CORE Norco program is focused on introducing the base fundamentals of diving, terminology, and safety while working towards completing the essential dives in the tuck position from every dive category (front, back, reverse, inward, and twist) from the 1-meter springboard.  The diver will also learn a complete forward approach, back jump, front fall in (falling dive), and back fall in (standing back dive) from the 3-meter.

Development Programs

CHALLENGE (Grades 8-12)

3x per week, 2hr; Monday, Wednesday, Friday - 5:00–7:00p; Friday - Mental Training and Dryland

Description: The Challenge program is designed for those divers who wish to continue and develop as a diver in a lower commitment atmosphere. The practice programming is flexible, allowing for free-flowing participation, with growth commensurate with the commitment level.  Challenge divers will enhance their diving skills by adding more advanced movements, positions, and methodologies.  More 3-meter instruction is introduced, and divers will work on building basic and advanced dives in a safe, controlled environment and at an appropriate pace.  This program is ideal for those who wish to compete only in high school and only develop their 1-meter diving skills; however, for those who desire, it will serve as the appropriate stepping stone to enter the Norco TRAIN program.

Competitive Programs

NORCO TRAIN

5x per Week, 2 hrs + 30 min partner paired tramp/dryboard/dryland session (weather permitting) twice monthly.

Monday - Friday, 5:00p-7:00p (EPIC)

Description: Norco TRAIN is for athletes who have experience in diving and wish to dedicate more time and advanced training for their development within the sport. These athletes aspire to compete in regional and national competitions under the USA Diving governing body structure and rank highly amongst the Colorado High School Athletic Association (CHSAA) state competitors.

The Norco TRAIN program is also designed for those interested in competing in the NCAA after High School. Our coaches work with these athletes outside the pool to assist in college recruiting visibility by utilizing their experience and relationships nationwide.

The group name ‘Norco TRAIN’ comes from the required mindset a member needs to approach their time at practice.  Each drill, each skill, each dive, each practice, each meet (practice meet or competitive) is not just practice… It is TRAINING.

The coach and divers establish goals with timelines. Practices are crafted around achieving each athlete's individual goals, whether focusing on skill acquisition and/or total meet-scoring strategies.  We will take a closer and more detailed approach to the collective nature of our sport, including specific nuances, mathematics, benchmarks, and performance training.  If a diver has goals and is dedicated to following specific programming and methodology, this program is for them.

The Norco TRAIN program consists of three training cycles throughout the year:

  • Early Season (10-Weeks) Fundamental Development

  • Competitive Season Training (18-Weeks) - Skill acquisition and dive list development

  • Championship Season Training (12-Weeks) - Focused on polishing established dives for maximum scoring in a championship/qualifying competition.  Competition scenarios and mental training are other heavy components.
