Program Description:

Homeschool Diving is a daytime program built for homeschool families. It meets in the middle of the day, while most kids are sitting in a classroom, and gives homeschoolers a place to move, build some confidence, and take on something new through the sport of springboard diving. You don't need any experience to start. Every kid begins wherever they are and builds from there.

The program was designed around the way homeschool families actually live. A lot of homeschoolers are looking for active, social things to round out the week, and diving fits that really well. It counts toward physical education, it builds a kind of confidence that carries into other parts of life, and it gives kids a shot at a sport most of them would never otherwise try.

Kids train both in the water and on dryland, using springboards and trampolines so they can learn new skills safely before taking them to the board. We keep class sizes small so coaches can stay close and give real attention on every attempt. The room stays welcoming and low pressure. Kids get genuinely good at this, but trying something for the first time never feels intimidating.

Homeschool Diving is offered by Norco Diving, Northern Colorado's Home for Olympic style Diving. We're not focused on ranks or medals here. The point is the fun of moving, getting a little better each week, and giving homeschoolers a safe place to be around other families who keep the same hours they do.

Program Structure:

Each week includes one in-water session and one dryland session. The two days work together. Dryland is where new skills are learned and drilled in a controlled setting, and the pool is where kids take those skills to the board.

In water day at EPIC (Wednesdays): kids warm up, then spend the hour on the springboard putting into practice what they built on dryland, with coaches spotting and guiding every attempt. Cooldown and recap to close.

Dryland day at The Flip Lab (Fridays): kids warm up, then build skills on the trampolines and dryland boards, learning and repeating new movements safely before they go over water. The hour ends with a calm cooldown and a quick recap.

Kids move through the fundamentals at a comfortable pace, and coaches add new skills as each one is ready.

Prerequisites:

  • No diving experience necessary. Beginners are welcome.
  • Kids should be comfortable in the water and able to swim safely in the deep end.
  • Bring swimwear, a towel, and a water bottle to each class.

Expectations:

  • Come ready to listen, try, and have fun. A good attitude is all we ask.
  • Regular attendance helps kids build on what they've learned, though we keep things flexible for family schedules.
  • Respect for coaches, classmates, and the facility at all times.
