Description

Learn to Dive introduces kids to springboard diving in a way that feels welcoming from the very first session. Every week includes two classes: one in the water at EPIC and one dryland session at The Flip Lab. In the water, kids learn to dive on the 1 meter and 3 meter springboards. On dryland, they build the body awareness and technique that make the water work come easier. Classes stay small so coaches can give real attention on every attempt, and kids move ahead at a pace that builds actual confidence.

This is a rec class. We are not chasing ranks or competition here. The point is for kids to learn to dive, feel good doing it, and have fun along the way.

Schedule

Two one-hour classes each week, 4:30 to 5:30 PM. Pick the two days that fit your week:

  • In the water at EPIC: Monday or Thursday
  • Dryland at The Flip Lab: Tuesday or Wednesday

What kids work on

This class introduces the core fundamentals of diving, along with terminology and safety. From the 1 meter springboard, kids work toward completing dives in the tuck position in every direction: front dive, back dive, inward dive, and a twisting skill. From the 3 meter, they learn a full forward approach, a back jump, a front fall in (a falling dive), and a back fall in (a standing back dive).

Prerequisites

Divers should be able to swim one length of the pool, 25 meters, and be comfortable in the deep end, which is 12 feet deep. No prior diving experience is needed.

Expectations

All we ask is that kids show up with a good attitude and a willingness to try new things. The fun takes care of itself.
