Operations Volunteer Positions

Vice President of Operations - Executive Board Operations – 1 person to shadow Jim Gray and learn the duties of VP for Ops, WSHS Crew Boosters Club.  This is an executive board position that involves managing the maintenance of the team’s equipment (launches, motors, shells, oars, cox boxes, ergs, launch dock, tools, shell trailer and lesser) and managing the other Ops committee positions listed below.  You will work with the coaches, other club Ops personnel, VASRA reps, boat manufactures and park staff.  This is the best position on the board; its fun, exciting and very rewarding, best part of all is no experience is necessary!

Launch and Dock Team – 1 Volunteer needed to work with Jeff Gadway this year as his assistant.  This person will assist Jeff, learn the duties of the job and serve as the lead Launch Manager for the 2019 season.  This team maintains our launches, motors and dock at Sandy Run.  Duties include: Preparing launches for use by coaches during practices, conducting launch driver training, preparing and issuing launches for regattas, seeking additional volunteers to assist on projects as required.

Cox Box Manager - 1 Volunteer needed to maintain, issue and store the teams cox boxes and microphones

Team Tent Committee - 1 Committee chair and 1 assistant, plus additional volunteers as deemed necessary to ensure a successful team tent.  This committee is responsible for the rower team tent at Sandy Run during all home regattas.  The team tent serves as a gathering place for the rowers where they can meet before and after their races and fuel up on healthy snacks, soup and drink.  Duties include: Arriving at the river early, before the regatta, to establish the tent location, erect the tent, setup tables, benches and the food line. The committee also maintains the time-to-sign-up sheet for food donations and gathers the donations the Friday prior to the regatta or ensures they are delivered to the tent on morning of the regatta.  Committee must have 1 person arrive very early to the river to secure the tent site.

Erg Team - 2 Volunteers needed to manage, maintain and issue the teams 37 ergs stored in the erg shed at WSHS.  Requires moving 8-10 ergs to the boathouse for use during the on the water practice sessions at Sandy Run and returning to the shed after the season.  Issue out to rowers over the summer.
