About the Lincoln Rebels

Established in 1991, the Lincoln Rebels are the most experienced youth baseball program in the city.

The program began in the front rooms of Dr. Dave and Kathy Bingham and Dave and Barb Smith, driven by a shared vision to elevate youth baseball in Lincoln. After several informal discussions, they launched the city's first select baseball program, and the response was immediate and overwhelming. More than 200 players attended the first-ever Rebels tryout. From that talented group, 15 players were chosen to form the inaugural team. That first season, the team played over 50 games and capped off their efforts with a tournament win in Fremont.

While the original vision was to field just one team, it was clear there was a strong demand for more. The Rebels quickly expanded to serve age groups from 9 to 14. To guide this growth, the organization turned to a respected leader in the local baseball community: Coach Randy Brolhorst, longtime head coach of Lincoln Southeast's varsity baseball team. From 1992 until his retirement, Coach Brolhorst provided the leadership, structure, and values that shaped the Rebels into Lincoln's premier youth baseball program.

That foundation is now carried forward by a new generation of leadership: former Rebels players and Rebels parents who grew up in the program and came back to run it. Working alongside an Executive Board of former Rebels parents, today's leadership team guides the organization with the same commitment to character, community, and competitive excellence that Coach Brolhorst instilled.

What Makes Us Different

Today, the Rebels support seven competitive teams for players aged 8 through 14. Each team is led by a paid head coach, reflecting our belief that coaching is a serious commitment, not a side activity. Our coaches are expected to match the dedication of our players and families, making player development and team leadership a top priority.

Our Philosophy

Winning matters, but how we win matters more. We prioritize hard work, positive attitudes, and a team-first mindset. In return, our coaches and organization are fully invested in helping each player reach their full potential, both on and off the field.

At the heart of the Rebels is a simple philosophy: We call it the "Rebel Family," a culture built on integrity, honesty, and lifelong lessons through the game of baseball.
