FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1. Question- When does the season start & end?

Answer- The season begins April 2, 2018 & ends June 10, 2018. estimate

2. Question- When are games played?

Answer- Games are played Monday-Saturday with most games scheduled on weekdays.

3. Question- Will my player have practice?

Answer- Yes, practices are scheduled by the coach. Practices are scheduled a minimum of 2 times per week with no games scheduled. A minimum of 1 time per week with a game scheduled.

4. Question- Can my child play up an age group or division?

Answer- Generally yes, they may play up on age group or division.

5. Question- Can my child play down an age group or division?

Answer- No.

6. Question- If my child plays up are they eligible to play in All-Stars for their actual age division?

Answer- No. Cal Ripken Rules state that they must play at least half of the season in the same Division that they are playing in All-Stars. They are however eligible to play in the division they played regular season in.

7. Question- What is the Clinic at Copper Hills High School?

Answer- This is an optional clinic for players in Major, Minor & Peewee. Ages 6-12. They will receive instruction from the Coaching staff and CHHS Baseball Team on March 2nd from 6:00pm-8:30pm The cost is $30 and can be paid during registration or the online store. This is great opportunity for the players to brush up on their skills before try-outs. Players younger than Peewee age can come at parents discretion. We ask you to remember the safety of the players is first.

8. Question- Do T-Ball & Rookie players need to try-out?

Answer- No.

9. Question- Who needs to try-out?

Answer- Peewee 7, Minor, Major and Babe Ruth Exception to this rule: A Coaches son/daughter does not have to attend regular season try-outs.

10. Question- Can my player request to play with friends/Cousin?

Answer- Yes for T-ball & Rookie only. For T-Ball & Rookie you can request it during your online registration process or at the In PERSON you will write them on the form.

11. Question- Are there requirements to be a Coach?

Answer- Yes, all Head Coaches and Assistant Coaches must be approved by the WJ Copper Hills Baseball Board. Head Coaches must complete the Coach Certification on the National Babe Ruth website and pass a background check. Coach Certification is highly recommended for all Assistant Coaches. 12. Question- Can I be an assistant coach?

Answer- Assistant coaches are picked by the teams head coach. If you would like to help out please let your head coach know as soon as he/she contacts you after the try-outs. If you know someone who is a head coach you may contact them to let them know of your interest.

13. Question- What is the Official Team Parent & Official Team Scorekeeper's responsibilities?

Answer- Each Team will need to have an Official Team Parent Two Official Scorekeeper'sThe Official Team Parent will oversee the administration tasks of the team & to support the Coaching Staff which include but not limited to the following: Assist the League Secretary in obtaining Birth Certificates from team's players, Email Team About important information including but not limited to the volunteer opportunities for your team, Hit-a-thon, Pictures, League Breakfast, Treat Tickets, practice & game reminders. Hand out Hit-a-thon forms, picture forms, treat tickets at each game, keep track of player's hits on Hit-a-thon day, assist Coach with Player of the Game & Most Improved Player Awards.

The Official Scorekeeper's will take turns keeping the Official Scorebook at each home game, the coach book for every game and Away games operate the scoreboard. The Scorekeeper who keeps the coach book will operate the scoreboard on Away games. There can be more than two scorekeepers per team but each team will need a minimum of two. Questions email info@chcrbaseball.com.

14. Question- What are the WJCHBASEBALL League boundaries?

Answer- The boundaries for participation in the WJ Copper Hills Baseball will coincide with boundaries as follows: Beginning at 5400 South and the Oquirrh Mountains to 9800 South. Follow 9800 South to the Jordan River (approx. 1100 West). Follow the Jordan River to 6200 South, head West to Bangerter Highway. On Bangerter Highway head North to 5400 South. Follow 5400 South West to the Oquirrh Mountains.

15. Question- Are games scheduled on Holidays?

Answer- The league will not schedule games on Easter weekend (Thursday-Friday-Saturday-Sunday, Monday) The league will not schedule games on Memorial Day.

16. Question- Can I make a scheduling request?

Answer- No. There are over 700 youth in the league and 70 teams; it is not possible to accommodate scheduling requests. There are NO EXCEPTIONS!

17. Question- What is included with registration fee's?

Answer- Registration fees include: full uniform (team hoodie, hat, personalized jersey, pants, belt & socks), team equipment, pictures, award, treat tickets (T-ball, Rookie, PW 7 & 8, Minor, Major) field usage fees, charter fees & insurance.

18. Question- What are Treat Tickets?

Answer- Treat Tickets are for players to get treats at the Snack Bar after each game. (This takes the place of parents taking turns bringing treats to the game) Treat Tickets are $2.00 per game per player. Each parent pays for their own players tickets at registration. The team parent will pick up & hand the tickets out to the players after each game and the dugout and bleacher area have been cleaned up. The Snack Bar will have many options at a discount for the players to choose from. The players love this part of their game nights. Just a reminder that Treat Tickets are for PLAYERS ONLY! Questions? 19. Question- What are the Food Voucher Cards?

Answer- Food Voucher Cards are cards with a value of $6.50 that can be purchased anytime during the season. They can be redeemed for food/snacks/drinks at the snack bar April 2nd - June 30th. You can purchase them thru the ONLINE STORE now. If you purchase 10 Food Voucher Cards before April 20th you will get one FREE and a bonus DRINK CARD FREE.

20. Question- How old do you have to be to work in the Snack Bar?

Answer- 14 years old. Applications can be downloaded from the website and emailed to tami@chcrbaseball.com or turned at the IN PERSON Registration on Feb 10th & 24th at Copper Hills High School.

21. Question- Do I need to have a Food Handler Permit to work in the Snack Bar?

Answer- Yes. You can download the information for Food Handler Permit from the download section on front page of website.Questions? Email tami@chchrbaseball.com

22. Question- What if I cannot afford to have my child play?

Answer- WJ Copper Hills Baseball has a limited number of scholarships available to those West Jordan residents in need of assistance. Please contact Rob at Rob@chcrbaseball.com regarding scholarships.

23. Question- What is the difference between Recreational & Competitive baseball?

Answer- Recreational is an instructional league. This is for players new to the game of baseball and those just learning the game. Competitive is just that competitive. This is for players with experience with the game of baseball and want to have a more competitive experience.

24. Question- Is this league for girls and boys?

Answer- Yes.

25. Question- How do I know what division to sign my player up for?

Answer- You should register your player for the age division that they will be that age as of 4/30/18. This is the Babe Ruth/Cal Ripken National age as of date.

27. Question- Is WJ Copper Hills Baseball a Non-Profit 501 c3 organization?

Answer- Yes, our letter of proof can be requested by sending an email to info@chcrbaseball.com.
