The heartbeat of our Spartan Crew program is our incredible network of volunteers. When parents, rowers, alumni, and friends step up to help, it builds the foundation for our athletes' success. Volunteering is also the perfect way to bond with your rower, learn the ins and outs of the sport, and connect with a fantastic community.

We truly need your support, and we have a role for every skill set and schedule! Whether you have a few hours to spare or a specific passion you want to share, your unique talents and ideas are welcome here. Let us know how you'd like to get involved! Spartan Crew Volunteer Requirements

REQUIRED: Spartan Crew has a volunteer point system to foster an environment in which each family contributes to the volunteer needs of WSCBC & VASRA. Each family is required to earn 6 VOLUNTEER POINTS per season.

OPT-OUT: Spartan Crew families may choose to OPT OUT of volunteering for the Spartan Crew Team by paying the team $300. Invoices will be sent out at the end of the season

OPERATIONS

VASRA Regatta Days: Each Spartan Crew Family is encouraged to cover AT LEAST ONE regatta-day volunteer position requested by Spartan Crew's governing organization, the Virginia Scholastic Rowing Association (VASRA). A SignUpGenius will be sent to families before the start of the Regatta Season.

Gear & Uniforms: Guide rowers through uniform sizing, manage spirit-wear inventory, and handle distribution days.

Travel Chaperone: Join our travel team for away regattas to assist coaches with logistical planning, meals, and overnight supervision.

Team Dinners & Hospitality: Help cook, serve, and clean up at our team pasta dinners, regatta food tents, and the year-end awards banquet to keep our rowers fed and families connected

ADMINISTRATION

Recruitment Crew: Represent the team and staff our welcome tables at the West Springfield High School Spartan Spree, Crew Interest Night, Open Boathouse, Novice Day at Sandy Run, and Spartan Fest.

Swim Test Helpers: Assist coordinators during seasonal swim tests to ensure our athletes are fully cleared and safe to hit the water.

FUNDRAISING

Fundraising Team: Sign up directly to support our annual community events such as leaf raking, basket bingo, and dining-out nights.
