Dear Parents/Guardians:
The Loomis Union School District is continuing our eSports program. The goals of this program include providing an opportunity for students to connect with other students and practice their communication and collaboration skills through strategic game play.
Esports is the sport of competitive video game playing. Our program will focus on personal and team goal-setting, good sportsmanship and controlling emotions in the game arena, community building, how gaming can improve a student’s academics, learning new career options, and promoting good physical health. Coaches are committed to providing a safe gaming environment for all students.
This year, our older students will play online to compete against other LUSD schools. Coaches will facilitate gameplay and monitor the competition. No student names will be used online. Equipment will be provided: Nintendo Switches, Super Smash Bros and Mario Kart. The program is providing the game consoles and games for students to use during sessions- no outside games or consoles are allowed. Students do not need these games or consoles at home to participate- we will provide time to learn the games! We welcome all students- no matter their experience level!
Who? Interested students in grades 6th-8th grade
When? After-school, 7 matches + practices
Where? At school - possible ONLINE play with supervision by coaches
How to sign-up? Complete the paperwork attached & return to your school’s main office prior to the first meeting
We are thankful for your ongoing support of Loomis Union School District. The District’s goal is to continue to offer quality and comprehensive programs for all students.
Sincerely,
Summer Reader Thea Patrick
