RIPON — The Ripon Chiefs youth football program etched its name into local sports history in 2025, capping off a remarkable season with two Super Bowl championships and three teams competing on the sport’s biggest stage.
Both the Junior Novice and Novice Chiefs completed undefeated regular seasons and followed it up with Super Bowl victories, showcasing the depth, discipline, and heart of the program.
The Junior Novice Chiefs, led by head coach Perry Thornton, delivered a dominant performance in their Super Bowl matchup, rolling to a 33–6 victory. The team’s explosive offense and relentless defense were on full display, punctuating a season in which they never tasted defeat. Thornton credited the win to preparation and teamwork, as the squad consistently executed at a high level throughout the year.
Not to be outdone, the Novice Chiefs, under head coach Josh Sarratt, battled their way to a hard-fought 26–21 Super Bowl win. The championship game was a test of composure and resilience, with the Chiefs holding strong in the closing moments to secure the title. The victory capped an undefeated regular season and reflected the grit and determination that defined the Novice squad all year long.
The success extended beyond the younger divisions. The Varsity Chiefs, coached by Keith Rangel, also advanced to the Super Bowl, marking an impressive postseason run. Despite a valiant effort, Varsity fell just short in a thrilling 14–13 loss, finishing as runners-up after one of the closest championship games of the season.
With two Super Bowl trophies, three championship appearances, and multiple undefeated regular seasons, the 2025 campaign stands as one of the most successful in Ripon Chiefs history. From the sidelines to the stands, the season highlighted not only winning football, but the growth, sportsmanship, and community pride that define the Chiefs program.
For Ripon football, the future looks just as strong as the season that just made history. 🏈
