A MUST ATTEND EVENT!!

NKCA Baseball League and its peers in the KC youth baseball community is excited to announce one of our most popular events, the Metro-wide Coaches Clinic, scheduled for 2-6PM on Sunday, February 23rd at the Crown Club at Kauffman Stadium. NKCA is partnering with Johnson County 3&2, the Royals Amateur Development System(RADs) group, and leagues and clubs all across Kansas City on the event. We are very grateful to the Kansas City Royals for hosting us again this year in the best stadium in MLB. Kauffman stadium is reserved for us, just us Sunday! This event is completely free to attend.

Whether you wear the formal title as manager of the team, assistant coach, or you’re a parent/coach at home wanting to improve your knowledge of the game when working with your son or daughter, you’re invited and encouraged to attend!

We have assembled a terrific team of speakers for the 2025 Clinic. Kicking us off for a general session will be Royals Vice President of Baseball Brand Innovation Tony Snethen. Tony leads The Pine Tar Collective Group for the Royals, whose mission is innovating the ways in which the Royals attract, engage and inspire fans, partners and the community. A key project Tony will discuss was his personal journey producing the film Not Good Enough and how that’s impacted him as a youth sports coach himself. Tony’s done the hard work researching how to keep sports kids mentally healthy so listen up first hand to what he learned and has to share.

We will breakout from there into concurrent sessions and then rotate, just like you do when you run a practice. On our rotations, we’ll have Bat Expert John Thompson from Marucci Sports share how to fit your player for a bat now and how that changes season to season. John spoke at our clinic 2 years ago and the segment was so popular, coaches ask that he return for it again, so he’s back in 2025 for you. John not only played at a high level, but also turned bats himself on the lathe in the early days of Marucci. Some of John’s bat designs have helped change and evolve the game of baseball not just for Marucci and Victus but everywhere.

Kansas City Royals Youth Player Development Expert Jeff Sopha will lead a high-energy, rich content breakout on practice skills and drills. Coach Sopha has led practices and clinics for literally 1000s of players over the past few years in the Midwest from the Royals Amateur development channel. Coach Sopha will have many coaching templates to share with you so if you don’t already have one, you’ll walk out with numerous practice plans and resources to run productive practices at all levels of play.

MLB Umpire Chief Super Mike Everitt will be leading our 3rd breakout rotation. Mike Everitt works in the front office of Major League Baseball. He was named an MLB Umpire Supervisor in February 2020 following 21 years as a Major League Umpire, including his final three seasons as a crew chief. Everitt worked three World Series (2007, 2009 and 2015) and six League Championship Series in his career. Mike will talk to us about how to effectively approach an umpire at any level and tips and techniques in communicating your points. He’ll then share incredible stories about working MLB games with players and situations that we’ll never forget. Remember the 2003 foul ball caught by Steve Bartman at Wrigley? Guess who was working the left-field line? Note: Mike will be joining us via Zoom for this segment from Spring Training.

We will finish the clinic strong with the 2024 6A State Champion Coach from Kansas Josh Perkins and 2024 6A State Champion from Missouri Tim McElligott co-presenting how to build a championship baseball program. Coach Perkins and McElligott will share how to best prepare your players to play at the next level and what it takes to build a championship culture in high school baseball.

Vendors will be there with giveaways, raffles, and to share knowledge with you and we thank them for their support. Can’t wait to see you all there Sunday!
