Hello Everyone, 

Some quick house keeping items:

The season schedule will be out in mid-April and runs into June. I don't have an exact date yet, but I'd plan on at least mid-June. I do not believe there is a pre-season tournament for us unless there are enough Coach Pitch teams that would like one. The Post Season tournament I believe is free entry and for the whole league as long as we do not forfeit any regular season games. This happens if we have less than 12 players show up for a game. 

NKCA sent out a reminder to make sure your registration is paid by March 31st, there is a $25 late fee starting on April 1st. Any player not paid up by the start of the season will be ruled ineligible by NKCA until their registration is paid. I do not believe I will get any reminder from the league until it is too late, so please stay on top of this. 

I have the name of two different sports stores I will contact this week to price jerseys. I have been told to expect $50-$125/ jersey. As we are 6U I'm sure that a t-shirt style jersey will get the job done. I will send out copies of estimates or whatever the store will give me and pass along my Venmo for this sometime this week. 

I don't believe pants will be included in this, please buy your son a pair each of black and gray pants for games. If that is incorrect I will let you know pants are included ASAP this week. 

To make some practice times clear, when we book a field we get two hours per practice. I do not see our team going two straight hours, but if the coaches are still holding their attention 58 minutes into practice, we may run over an hour on the dot, each practice will be played by ear.

Hello everyone, just a reminder there is a sale at Liberty or Zona Rosa DICK's this weekend, 20% off with the coupon in the Sports Plus app if anyone is needing any equipment for the year. 

We have our first practice TOMORROW at 1PM! If we get hit with this mega storm today, we may still practice out in the outfield. If weather is an issue, I will check the field approximately an hour before practice to make a game time decision. 

Most practices will be at the New Mark Middle School location as long as I can keep getting the spot, however we also have "credits" for Game Ready Fields, so PLEASE watch the location of the practices in the app. Our first Game Ready Field practice will not be until April 5th, just more of a heads up for future events. I will try to remember to let everyone know when we are practicing on these different fields.

Hello everyone I am getting a lot of questions about the upcoming season. A common theme is this is our first year. It is my first year with NKCA also, so I am learning as I go here with you. Equipment. For certain you will need your own gloves. Helments probably wouldn’t hurt either. I will be meeting with someone from the league next week and he will provide me SOME team equipment. I believe this will include catchers gear. On that note, if your child has any desire at all to play catcher, he WILL BE REQUIRED TO WEAR AN ATHLETIC CUP. Even at the ripe age of 6U ball I believe I read any catcher caught without a cup WILL be ejected. It is a smart precaution in general, but a MUST if he wants to be behind the plate. Moving on. Bats. I believe I was told we may get a few for the team. A lot of kids get their own, Our team will need bats that are rated for coaches pitch. The bat usually has this somewhere on the bat (tball, machine pitch etc). Uniforms. Please buy your child their own baseball pants. We can figure out a uniform color later possibly. Or black typically goes with anything. Also on uniforms, I was provided the name of a store that many teams do use. It is my understanding parents are expecting “team fees” for uniforms or potential tournaments etc. IF THIS IS SURPRISING TO YOU PLEASE LET ME KNOW THIS. Again, I am new to NKCA, and other leagues provide a jersey so that’s different for me also. Finally, multiple parents are having trouble navigating the app. Believe me, I feel your pain. I have a page for my son, a coach page and a parent page. I get it. I am probably going to try to set up a group in an app called Team Snap that we have used for wrestling and other sports. it seems much more user friendly. I have had a couple people reach out about helping to coach. Thank you, and I have you guys saved and will keep you in the loop as we go.
